The Church Pension Fund (CPF) began operations in 1917 as the sponsor and administrator of The Church Pension Fund Clergy Pension Plan. Since then, the charter of CPF and its affiliated companies, collectively the Church Pension Group (CPG), has expanded to include a broad range of employee benefits and educational experiences for clergy and lay employees.
Retirement
We sponsor and administer The Church Pension Fund Clergy Pension Plan and The Episcopal Church Lay Employees’ Retirement Plan, two distinct defined benefit plans that provide a monthly income, and other related benefits, to eligible clergy and lay employees. We also administer the International Clergy Pension Plan, which provides eligible clergy serving in the non-domestic dioceses of The Episcopal Church and Iglesia Anglicana de la Región Central de América with monthly income in retirement.
In addition, through The Episcopal Church Lay Employees’ Defined Contribution Retirement Plan and The Episcopal Church Retirement Savings Plan, clergy and lay employees can save for retirement through their own pre-tax, Roth, and after-tax contributions. Employers can also contribute to these plans, increasing the savings potential for participants.
Health
Through The Episcopal Church Medical Trust (Medical Trust), we provide comprehensive health and wellness benefits to active and retired clergy and lay employees and their eligible dependents.
The Medical Trust offers an array of healthcare plans from best-in-class providers of medical, dental, vision, and pharmacy benefits. We also work with thought leaders in the field of healthcare navigation to help members find the care they need.
Life Insurance
Church Life Insurance Corporation offers life insurance plans designed to provide financial security and peace of mind to clergy, lay employees, and their beneficiaries.
Educational Programs
We offer classroom and virtual education on topics such as savings, debt management, retirement readiness, health, and stress management to help members achieve financial stability and overall well-being throughout their careers and retirement.
In addition, the CREDO program for clergy supports physical, emotional, spiritual, and financial wellness through retreats, workshops, and other resources. This comprehensive approach to well-being aims to help clergy sustain their ministries and improve their quality of life.
