Curate, Good Shepherd Mission
The Episcopal Church in Navajoland
Fort Defiance, AZ
The Rev. Leon Sampson is a lifelong Episcopalian from three generations and has always been involved in the workings of The Episcopal Church; the vision of transitioning from an Area Mission to a Missionary Diocese has been a blessing to be a part of during his generation. His work around community formation, youth ministry, and identifying who they are as Navajo (Dine’) Episcopalians is the joy of ministry on the Navajo (Dine’) Reservation (Bi’ Kei Yah).
He is a member of The Episcopal Church in Navajoland Council Standing Committee, a non-profit board member of the Economic Development Corporation, Chair of the Building and Grounds task force, a member of the board of advisory for Indigenous Ministry, and a member of the task force on healing for The Episcopal Church’s role in the Boarding School Archiving and Healing.
He was elected to his first term on The Church Pension Fund Board of Trustees in 2024.
He received an MDiv from the Virginia Theological School.
