Medical Benefits Summary
The Medical Trust makes three types of plans1 available to Episcopal institutions that they, in turn, can offer to eligible individuals and their eligible dependents:
- Preferred Provider Organization (PPO)
- Consumer-Directed Health Plans (CDHPs)* designed to work with a Health Savings Account (HSA)
- Exclusive Provider Organization (EPO)
- Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP) Small Employer Exception (SEE) plans
These plans provide medical, behavioral health, pharmacy, vision, and hearing benefits plus additional services like telehealth, travel assistance, and an employee assistance program (EAP).
*These plans are “high deductible health plans” (HDHPs).

Care Coordination from Quantum Health
The Medical Trust has contracted with Quantum Health (Quantum) to enhance the benefits of its plans that use the Anthem and Cigna networks.
Learn more about Quantum Health.
In December 2024, Anthem and Cigna members will receive new ID cards with a NEW plan number, which they MUST use for medical, behavioral health (including the EAP), and prescription (Express Scripts) services. Their old cards will not work after 12/31/2024.
Pharmacy Benefits
Our health plans include a comprehensive prescription benefit with significant savings. Members enrolled in a medical plan that uses the Anthem or Cigna network can fill medications at retail pharmacies that participate in the Express Scripts network and through Express Scripts’ home delivery service, which allows 90-day refills of maintenance medications.
To learn more, consult the Anthem and Cigna plan document handbooks. For pricing information, to download the formulary, and to find a participating retail pharmacy, visit Express Scripts.
If you’re enrolled in a Kaiser health plan, Kaiser will provide your pharmacy benefits. Visit kp.org for details.
Behavioral Health
Your medical coverage includes integrated benefits for behavioral health and substance use disorder plus an employee assistance program (EAP) through Cigna.
The EAP is a free and confidential 24/7 service that offers immediate help, referrals, and online resources for a range of emotional, family, financial, and legal issues. All members—including those in Anthem and Kaiser plans—receive EAP benefits through Cigna.
EAP includes access to Talkspace, a platform that connects individuals 13 and older with licensed therapists or psychiatrists online, by video, or via text.
To access these services, call (866) 395-7794 or sign in to myCigna.com (employer ID: episcopal).
1 Some plans may not be available in all locations or to all groups. Consult your Benefits Relationship Manager with any questions.
